We at The Balluta Pen Co. are incredibly pleased to announce the launch of Sailor's quintessentially Japanese Shikiori Hisaka fountain pens in Malta, a first for our small store but also a commitment to our mission to provide a curated shopfront of the lovely, the niche, and the special.
Introducing The Shikiori Collection
Sailor's Shikiori line of fountain pens is an evolution of their noted ProGear line of colour fountain pens through the lens of the four seasons in Japan, with this Hisaka line highlighting a brief moment in the changing seasons. Cherry blossoms dancing in the wind. Splashes of water bathed in sunlight. The sky drenched in sunset. Twinkling stars in the sky.

Shikiori Hisakata Sakura

Evoking the eponymous Japanese cherry blossom, the Sakura fountain pen's lovely pink hues are both striking and subtle.
Shikiori Hisakata Akanezora

The Akanezora's flash of dark amber evokes a striking sunset on a hot summer's eve, a sight all Maltese are familiar with.
Shikiori Hisakata Hoshikuzu

Our personal favourite of the Hisakata line, the Hoshikuzu's sparkling flecks in its deep black barrel evoke a bright starry night sky on a cool autumn evening.
Shikiori Hisakata Uchimizu

The Uchimizu's semi-transparent barrel and cap evoke the striking deep blue of ancient frozen ice, or the deepest of Malta's blue seas.
Why Sailor Fountain Pens Matter To Malta and to The Balluta Pen Co.
Sailor, an aged and storied firm founded in 1918 is well known for its pens' reliability, precision, and beauty and marks the next step in the journey of our little store. Sailor is the second oldest brand that we are proud to represent, second only to Diamine (founded in 1864).
Sailor's ethos of bringing thoughtful craftsmanship and effortless beauty to every day writing is an ethos we endorse and strive to live by at The Balluta Pen Co., making bringing Sailor's fountain pens to Malta and obvious and easy decision.
